Why WhatsApp Status Won’t Upload
WhatsApp Status lets you share photos and videos with contacts for 24 hours. When statuses fail to upload, they stay stuck on ‘sending’ indefinitely. This stems from internet problems, app glitches, or media file issues.

Fix 1: Check Your Internet Speed
Status uploads require stable internet. Videos especially need good upload speed — test at speedtest.net. You need at least 2 Mbps upload for smooth status video uploads. If your connection is slow, wait for a better signal or switch to WiFi before uploading.
Fix 2: Check File Size and Format Limits
WhatsApp Status limits: Photos — maximum 16MB, must be JPG, PNG, or GIF. Videos — maximum 30 seconds in length, maximum 16MB file size, MP4 or MOV format preferred. Documents and GIFs have separate limits. Files exceeding these limits will fail silently or show an error. Compress your video or trim it to under 30 seconds before retrying.

View Contact OptionsFix 3: Clear WhatsApp Cache
On Android: Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Clear Cache. On iPhone: Offload and reinstall WhatsApp (Settings > General > iPhone Storage > WhatsApp > Offload App). A corrupted cache frequently causes upload failures without showing clear error messages.
Fix 4: Grant Storage Permissions
WhatsApp needs storage access to read photos and videos from your gallery. On Android: Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions > Storage > Allow. Without storage permission, WhatsApp can’t access the files you’re trying to upload as a status.
Fix 5: Restart and Retry
Force close WhatsApp, restart your phone, and try uploading again. Restarting clears any temporary system issues that may be preventing the upload. If the status still won’t upload, try a different image or video file to confirm whether it’s a file-specific or app-wide issue.
