KeymasterFacebook keeps rejecting my name change request. I recently got married and legally changed my surname but Facebook will not accept my new name, saying it “does not follow our name policy”. I submitted a copy of my marriage cert but still got rejected. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take to resolve?

KeymasterFacebook requires names to follow their real name policy — no symbols, numbers, unusual capitalization, or titles. If your name was rejected, it may be because it looks like a business name or contains special characters. Try submitting your name exactly as it appears on a government ID. If rejected again, you can submit an ID through the review form at facebook.com/help/contact/1288553891328639.

KeymasterAlso note that Facebook limits how often you can change your name — typically once every 60 days. If your change was recently rejected, wait a bit before trying again. If you go by a nickname or a name you’re commonly known by, that can also be used under their policy, but you may need to provide supporting evidence like mail, a utility bill, or a social media profile showing that name.
